About us

EFANet is a national education coalition that advocates for the realisation of the Education for All agenda. The network also aims to influence policy changes by mobilising, building and strengthening capacity of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in order to advocate effectively for the accomplishment of the EFA goals. EFANet was established in 2002 as a respond to the initiative at the Dakar Framework to mobilise wider participation of civil society in the Education For All campaign.

EFANet has made significant strides in its campaign to ensure that the right of every child, young person and adult to education is respected, protected and fulfilled. This right is guaranteed in the 1997 Constitution of The Gambia and in other regional and internationally agreed frameworks such as the Dakar Framework for Action (2000); the Millennium Development Goals (2000); the Convention on the Rights of the Child (1990); the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (1979); the African Charter on Human and People's Rights on the Rights of Women in Africa (2003) among others.
